• Notes

  Never Married Bessie lived with her parents in Carman for a prolonged period of time. She contracted polio as a child, which left her slightly crippled. She worked for the Royal Bank of Canada in Carman and later in Winnipeg. She also worked for the Red Cross, also in Winnipeg. Bessie never married (spurning at least one suitor according to Ruth Hammond) and had no known offspring. She died in Winnipeg, but is buried in the family plot in Carman Greenwood Cemetery.
