  "Allan graduated from MGill University in Medicine in 1852 and won esteem as a pioneer practitioner in Upper Canada. For more than forty years, he was a highly respected and very sucessful physician in Napanee. He was married in 1854 in Montreal to Caroline Smith, a lady of culture and refinement.
