Inspired by the resc ue of a crashed plane in the Channel, when he was on his father's boat Invicta, to join Imper ial Airways. Moved to Croydon to work at London Airport, then at Croydon. When it moved to He athrow he then commuted from Croydon until his retirement. Finally became a Chief Maintenanc e Engineer. Suffered a number of strokes and a heart attack until final demise from an emboli sm.
