Notes - Buried at Andersons Bay Cemetery amongst the war graves at Block 70, Plot 28, Stone 78. Before the war he was an engineer in New Plymouth. He served in France with the NZ Rifle Brigade and the 3\super rd\nosupersub Battalion, Otago Infantry Regiment from December 1916 to October 1917 until he was wounded in action. After the war in 1922 he and his brother George started farming at Warea. In 1930 George moved to New Plymouth to become a salesman and Hugh continued farming until 1951. The family then moved to Dunedin.
