7009 | Sharon Floate I was delighted to come across your Petman family tree on the Ancestry.com site recently as I too share the same Petman ancestors as you do. We have the same line in common from the first Robert Petman through to Zachariah Petman and Sarah Hall. My line of descent comes from their daughter Margaret who was baptised in Deal in 1747. I have conducted a lot of work on the family using sources other than parish registers, e.g., wills, marriage licences and chancery court proceedings. If you haven't touched on these, you may not be aware that this Zachariah married four times - and that Robert Petman died leaving a very young second wife and a small child by her, causing lots of legal wranglings between the grown-up children by Margery and this child. I'd be pleased to share this if you don't have it... I've also visited Ickham church and have a photo of Robert Petman's tomb which lies in a very prestigious position right in front of the altar. He was obviously a very influential man... And only yesterday, I had in my hands the will and probate inventory of Peter Petman, son of Robert, who I discovered only a couple of weeks ago, died in 1695 in the city of London, a surgeon. It sent a thrill up the spine to think that I was able to touch the paper he signed and marked with his seal all those generations ago. Amazing. From the detail of what you have in your tree, I wonder if you're in touch with Flora Pettman in England to whom I passed all my info a number of years ago? | PETMAN, Zachariah (I16136)

7030 | She was aged 45 on the 1901 Census. Aunt Annie said that Anne Jane lived in Lough Quarter down a lane by the mission hall. Annie can remember Anne Jane sitting in her chair at their home in Ballyplunt. They would go to visit there once per year Aunt Annie thought that Anne Jane had a brother who married a Jane and perhaps went to Ballynaglave near Ballynahinch. Aunt Annie also thought that Anne Jane's mother was a Neill as well. In 1901 census Annie Neill McKeag (niece) 25 years, not married, was living with them. This was probably James' direct niece (her middle name was Neill). If so, James probably had an elder sister born say 1850 who married a McKeag app 1875. | NEILL, Anne Jane (I7322)
