3224 | Died in the Township of Haldimand on the 8th of May 1887, Mrs. Mary Ann Polley, wife of Robert Polley, Sen., in her 77th year. Mrs. Polley whose maiden name was Mary Ann Hackett was born in the County of Monaghan, Ireland, in the year 1810 and was married to her surviving husband in Feb. 1833, at Lancingburg, State of New York. Three year after which they moved to Brantford, Ontario, where they resided until the year 1846, and from thence to the Township of Haldimand. Mrs. P. was a member of the Episcopalian church for over 40 years. She is worthy of a more extended notice than time, space, and circumstances will admit of in a secular paper, but let it suffice for the present, that she possessed a kind, generous, agreeable and cheerful disposition. She had buoyancy of soul, not given to fret or lament over misfortunes or losses that might occur, but rather disposed to enjoy the good possessed, and seek for the greater good available. Many in her large circle of intimate acquaintances will miss her kind benefactions. Mrs. P. had been in feeble health for several years before her decease owing to disease of the heart (atrophy) but she "pursued the even tenor of her way," and came down to the close of life "in full assurance of hope" the she would inherit the "rest that remaineth for the people of God". Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Mr. Sexsmith in the Methodist church, Castleton. He delivered an excellent sermon from the text chosen by the deceased, Psalms, 48th chapter, 9th, 10th and 11th verses to a large, sympathizing congregation. O ! may I triumph so; That when my warfare's past Dying I may find my latest foe, Beneath my feet at last. | HACKETT, Mary Ann (I4738)

3247 | Difficult to read, here are some of the points I was able to pull out: "Pay to my wife Elizabeth Brabdury the sum of one pound sterling weekly and every week during the remainder of her life". Goes on to talk about investments and then about his younger children and them reaching the age of 21 and how they will get "equal shares and proportions and the issue of any of them". The next part is hard to make out but it seems to indicate that the properties and investments will be held until the youngest of his children reaches 21 and at that time they are to be distributed. It goes on to talk about issue of his children and them being included as well. The trusties are able to use his money to maintain his properties and can give is wife any moneys they see fit until his youngest reaches the age of 21. They will also fund the education and maintenance for any profession or employment for the children. Talks further about investment guidance for the estate (until the youngest reaches 21) and about maintaining the properties owned by the estate. Mentions that Edward John Bradbury and Herbert George Bradbury be guardians of "my infant Arthur" | BRADBURY, Edward Esq (I1634)
