Jeanette was christened in 1875 three years after her birth which was unsual for the McGuire family but she was listed as having James LAFFERTY as her father and was christened with the surname LAFFERTY.

It is likely that his father was James LAFFERTY, he certainly used the LAFFERTY name in all the records I have found but his baptism lists him as McGuire, possibly because his parents were not married and the priest knew of that fact. His sister who was baptised two years earlier was under the LAFFERTY name and even listed James as her father in the record.
