    We do not know the name of Owen's wife, it appears that she died in New York before Owen came to Canada. Owen is listed on the passenger list of the Hope in 1783 with 4 children...we do not know who the fourth child is either. Owen's brother Philip was also on the Hope with his family. Mary, Rebecca and Owen Jr all petition for land as the children of a UEL and list Owen Roblin as their father. (Linda Herman)

    In his 1788 British government claim regarding his losses, Owen described his farm and holdings, initiated c. 1769, as follows
    "Had a Lease farm held of David Mathews in Orange Co. It was for four years or 5 years a time, but says he could have sold the Improvements. He had lived there 10 years.

    Notes:

    Owen Roblin married Margaret Ruttan, and had a large farm on the third concession of Adolphustown, where he lived for many years and died at an advanced age. To distinguish him from the many other prominent men of his own name, now a familiar one throughout the county, he was called the "one-eyed" Roblin, owing to the fact that at an early age he suffered the misfortune of losing the sight of one eye. His descendants are numerous and are recognized as many of the leading business men and farmers in the county.

    He cam to Canada with his father in the Vanalstine Party to Canada. He lived and died in Adolphustown/> His will was dated March 23, 1852. He was known as "one eyed Owen" from an accident when a child stuck a stick in his eye.

    Owen and Mary lived on Lot 24 , Con 3 in Adolphustown. They are found there in 1794 with one male and one female both over 16 years of age. In 1851 Owen P. 85 and Mary 76, are living in Adolphustown with their son Stephen Roblin and his family

    Mary, the eldest of the family, married and settled I the States, but eventually moved into Canada and died at Goderich, where she left considerable property.

    Mary Roblin (Owen1) daughter of Owen Roblin Sr. was born 1769 in New York. About 1795, she married Solomon Orser, son of Joseph Orser/Aertse and Anntje Jurkes. Solomon was born 1761 in Sleepy Hollow, New York.

    Mary and Solomon lived in Fredericksburg and Kingston, Ontario.

    Mary died before 1806 and Solomon died between 1836 and 1837 in Reach Twp.

    Rebecca Roblin (Owen1) daughter of Owen Roblin Sr. was born 1771 in New York. Oct 27, 1793, in Fredericksburgh, Rebecca married John Wood. John was born 1759.

    Rebecca and John lived in Woodville, Sophiasburg and owned 1/2 of lots 24 & 25 of SWGP, southwest of Green Point.

    John died in 1843. Rebecca died May 22, 1855.

    Jacob Roblin (Owen2,Owen1) son of Owen Roblin Jr. and Mary Elizabeth Ruttan was born 1795 in Adolphustown. Jacob married Sarah VanDusen August 7, 1816 in Adolphustown. Sarah b. May 26, 1798 was daughter of Conrad VanDusen and Millicent Ferguson.

    In the 1861 census Jacob, age 68, and Sarah, age 64 are living in Sophiasburg with son Conrad. In 1871, Jacob, age 76 and Sarah , age 74, are living in Sophiasburg with son, Owen.

    Jacob died June 7, 1876. Sarah, age 83, is found in the 1881 Census living in Sophiasburg with daughter, Sarah E. and husband Austin Osborne. Son, Jacob, age 56, is also living with his mother and sister in Sophiasburg in 1881.

    Sarah died Dec 12, 1883.

    Jacob married Sarah VANDUSEN on 7 Aug 1815 in Adolphustown Township, Lennox & Addington County, Ontario, Canada.     1851 Census - Stephen, age 55, and Amy, age 51, are living in Adolphustown with Joseph, Rachel, John H. Melissa A., Stephen P., and Mary E. Stephen's parents Owen P. 85 and Mary 76 are also living with Stephen and family.

    Amy died Aug 20, 1857. She is buried in the U.E.L. Cemetery in Adolphustown.

    Stephen remarried Feb 16, 1859 to Martha Fairman. In 1861 and 1871 Stephen and Martha are found in Adolphustown.

    Martha died Aug 10, 1872.

    In 1881 Stephen, age 83, is living with son, Cyrus and family, in Adolphustown. Stephen died Feb 1, 1884 and is buried in the U.E.L. Cemetery in Adolphustown.

    John Wesley Roblin (Owen2,Owen1) son of Owen Roblin Jr. and Mary Elizabeth Ruttan was born about 1803 in Adolphustown. John married Deborah Rightmyer February 21, 1827. Deborah was born about 1805, daughter of Peter/Petrus Rightmyer and Phebe Allison.

    John and Deborah settled in Sophiasburg.

    It appears that both John and Deborah died before 1861 or possibly even 1851. There have been no stones or location of burial found. They are not found in the 1861 Sophiasburg Census and there is no surviving 1851 Sophiasburg Census. In 1851 Rachel, age 22, is living with Isaac Reynolds and wife Sarah (these could be the parents of Rachel Reynolds, wife of cousin, Joseph Roblin b.c. 1829) . In 1861 Catharine, age14, and John, age19, are living with their sister Catharine and husband Benjamin VanBlaricom in Sophiasburg. In addition, Mary Jane was apparently raised by Sarah Hoover wife of Royal Hicks, who had no children of their own. This indicates that John and Deborah were not present to care for these children by 1861 and possibly by 1851.

    Margaret died Dec. 20, 1873 in Marmora. Weston died after 1871.

    Rachel and Jonathan lived in Sydenham, Grey County. Jonathan and Rachel are listed in Sydenham in the 1871 Census. In 1881 Jonathan is still in Sydenham, listed as a widower.

    Rachel died between 1871 and 1881. Jonathan died after 1881.
