Thomas was a banker in Ireland where he met his wife while serving in Co. Leitrim. After some years in Saskatchuan, he returned to claim his good lady. He served in the Bank of Montreal for several of Canada's larger cities. Before retirement Thomas occupied one of the chief posts in their great network of Branches. He now lives in a fine English style home in 247 Montrose St Winnipeg, and recieves a very ample pension from the Bank he served so well. Awarded the Order of the British Empire in 1945 while in Edmonton.

Whereas we have thought fit to nominate and appoint you to bear additional office of the civil division of our said most excellent order of the British Empire we do by these presents grant unto you the dignity of an additional officer of our order and hereby authorize you to have, hold and enjoy the said dignity and rank of an additional officer of our aforesaid order together with all and singular the priveleges thereunto belonging or appertaining.
Given at our court at Saint Hames under our sign manual and the seal of our said order this first day of July 1946 in the tenth year of our reign.
