    • Mr Daniel Nash kept a pack of foxhounds in Rayleigh and managed the Essex Union Foxhounds with Thomas Brewitt. Mr Nash, who died in 1859, has built for himself a large residence called Rayleigh Place and built or secured the Octagon House for the keeper of his hounds. (‘Rayleigh Yesterday and Today’ (published 1932))

      Daniel NASH 1793 - Will At Gravesend, Kent, gentleman Wrotham Road To housekeeper Mrs Byford 10 pounds Codicil of 1st March 1859 increases this to 100 pounds. Residue of personal estate to Edward Woodward of Billericay, Essex on trust to sell real esatae and deal with debts etc. and then bequeathed the rest to my daughter Mrs Ann SMITH for her separate estate.
