    • Man dies in collision of logging truck, car

A 25-year-old man was killed instantly when the car he was driving collided with a logging truck at about 11:45 a.m. Thursday on the Malahat Drive, just south of the Malahat Chalet, 16 miles north of Victoria. Dead is Donald Gordon Polley of the Malahat Bungalows, Malahat, a single man whose father lives in Toronto. Colwood RCMP said Polley was travelling north when his car crossed the centre line of the highway and collided with a fully-loaded logging truck travelling south. RCMP said the impact tore the left rear wheel of the truck's tractor part off the axle. Polley's vehicle, a Volkswagen Rabbit, spun around and came to rest facing south. It was demolished. Driver of the logging truck, Louis Reginald Shreenan of Shawnigan Lake, was not injured. Daily Colonist October 29th 1976

      Death Crash

A 25-year-old Malahat resident is dead following a spectacular smash with a loaded logging truck near the Malahat Chalet Thursday morning, just 200 yards from his home. Donald Gordon Polley, formerly of Toronto and a resident of the Malahat Bungalow, was pronounced dead on arrival at hospital. His Volkswagen Dasher slammed into the rear wheels of the truck after he had narrowly missed a head-on-collision. Truck driver Louis Reginald Shreean of Shawnigan Lake escaped serious injury in the 11:45 a.m. crash. Polley was travelling north at the time of the accident. The Malahat Chalet is 16 miles north of Victoria. The Victorian October 29th 1976
