      The surname Puttee/Pottee would appear to have a Huguenot origin. In the rootsweb.com archive there are many instances in the form of POTTOO, POTTO, POTTWO, PATOO.

David POYTE moved to Folkestone January 1711/2 with new wife Elizabeth WILLIAMS nee KENNY and her children, relinquishing his tenancy of land belonging to Thos FREWEN. Was Eliz PETTEE of Barham married to FRYNNE (pronounced FREWEN)?
