    First time to Canada. Came to Toronto and worked at a farm about 20 miles NW of Toronto. After 3 years he returned to England.

    Immigration:
    Spent Christmas of 1841 on the Atlantic going home to England. He spent much time telling family and friends about Canada when he was home as they knew little about it. Likely this is why other's decided to join him when he returned.

    He had planned on returning to Canada in the spring but his father was old and told him to he could't leave while he was alive so Robert remained until his father passed away.

    Birthplace likely spelt Cliffe, there is a North Cliffe and a South Cliffe just 8 miles to the East of Holme on Spalding Moor. In the 1851 census there is a William WATSON born 1783 living there who could well be his brother.

    There is also a location named Cliffe in North Yorkshire which is a less likely place of birth for him.
