(Medical):Under medical treatment from Oct 9 to Nov 9 of that year, died on Nov 10.

    Hemiplegia lasted one week

Apoplexy is an old-fashioned medical term, generally used interchangeably with cerebrovascular accident (CVA or stroke) but having other meanings as well.

The use of apoplexy for the term stroke is derived from the fact that many patients lose consciousness during the acute stage of the vascular compromise (either through bleeding or ischemia). It is not to be confused with cataplexy (an attack of the neurological syndrome narcolepsy).

Occasionally, the term 'apoplexy' is used to describe hemorrhaging within other organs; in such usage, however, it is coupled with an adjective describing the site of the bleeding. For example, bleeding within the kidneys can be called renal apoplexy, or bleeding within the pituitary gland can be called pituitary apoplexy.

Hemiplegia is a condition where a vertical half of a patient's body is paralyzed, i.e. one arm and its corresponding leg do not function. It is usually the result of a stroke, although disease processes affecting the spinal cord and other diseases affecting the hemispheres are equally capable of producing this clinical state.

Mother and Father's name not included on death certificate but they were both listed as having been born in England

In the 1911 census year of immigration is listed as 1860 most likely incorrect rounding of the date

Too many possibilities in the 1841 census, no clear choice

In the 1851 census there is a Mary Ann GRANTHAM born 1832 in Catwick, Yorkshire, England living same with father Thos. This could be here as Yorkshire matches the location and she was known to have not yet married George.

    Notes:

(Research):Paid research undertaken by Joan Phillipson in Ireland May 2011. Email dated May 6th 2011 below. My thoughts: The likelyhood that he was from Downpatrick is small at this point, there seems to be little in the way of Curlett activity in Downpatrick. He could well be from Castlewhelan as the church records for that parish don't exist. The possibility still exists that Robert Emmet CURLETT was not his real name but one taken by him at a later date.

    Notes:

Roblin's Mills at Sophiasburgh had one of the best mill sites in the County. Five mills operated within a half mile. The water was diverted from mill wheel to mill wheel by sluices. There was a mill at the edge of the cliff, below it stood the original Roblin mill called the Cooperage. Further down were two mills run off the same wheel-one for sawing and one for grinding. The waters from this mill were carried by overhead sluice to the last mill which stood near the bay. This one is known as Levi Roblin's Mill. Levi built his home on the dock because he loved the water. His mill was run by the pouring water from the sluice over a paddle wheel and it, in turn, worked an arm which turned a flywheel. The Roblin mills were adjacent to the shipyards. - from

Levi drowned himself in the muddy pond behind the big red barn that can be seen from his tombstone at Fish Lake. Apparently, in his old age, he and his second wife Elizabeth Osbourne had no "means" to live on. But his sons by his first wife would not support their step-mother. So the old folks were separated and one of her girls took Elizabeth Osbourne Roblin in. But old Levi was lonesome without her and committed suicide.

Levi married Mary SHORTT on 31 Jan 1815 in Sophiasburgh Township, Prince Edward County, Ontario, Canada. Mary (daughter of Adam SHORTT and ODELL) was born about Jan 1791 in New Jersey, USA; died in May 1828 in Sophiasburgh Township, Prince Edward County, Ontario, Canada; was buried in Roblin Family Cemetery, Near Fish Lake In Sophiasburg.
