A couple of years later he is before the Dunblane Kirk Session - Alexander Monteath, farmer in Park of Jerah,Logie 1783/4 had a child to Janet Eadie daughter of John Eadie, farmer, Blau Shank. Was she the housemaid/child nurse for his daughters.

This John Monteath was Agnes' grandfather and was the one who purchased Duchally for the family. The Monteaths had been tenant farmers in the area east and north of Dunblane for generations and as far as I can tell he was the first one to become a landowner. His son John, Agnes' father, bought out his brothers' shares in Duchally in 1805 and became the sole owner. He took up residence in 1813 when Agnes his youngest child was 4 years old so she grew up there and probably had fond memories of it. The house has been completely rebuilt and added to since her time. Ruthven Barry Monteath sold Duchally in the 1950s and it is now a Country Hotel with its own web page. My wife and I stayed there a few years back and they do very nice breakfasts. There are timeshare villas in the grounds which add to the revenue of the property but unfortunately not so much to its rural beauty. It is nicely located just up the road from Gleneagles.
