    Notes:

A note to Gordon Polley during the war says that the family lived in Dulwich for many years before moving to Canada

    Residence:
Picture is of aproximate area on Carleton Road

    Emigration:
    Port of departure: Liverpool
    Passenger destination port: Montreal, Canada
    Ship: VANCOUVER
    Shipping Line: Dominion Line
    Master's name: Williams
    Where bound: Montreal, Canada
    Square feet: 7355
    Registered tonnage: 2859
    Passengers on voyage: 411

The ship documents are confusing, the ship name is clearly listed as "Vancouver" on the outgoing documents, but it is packaged together with the "City of Chicago" documents. On it's arrival in Montreal it is again listed as the "Vancouver" however according to records the Vancouver was sold before it was finished being built by the Dominion line to the Inman line and renamed "City of Chicago" in the year 1883. On the arrival records it is listed as a Dominion ship. There was another ship in the Dominion line named Vancouver but the coincidence with the name "City of Chicago" being mentioned makes it unclear as to which ship this actually was.

As noted on the ship's documents

In a letter to Gordon Polley his mother May Nash said that all the Daniel Nash's were buried in Norwood Cemetery, and that his Great Grandfather was a homeopathic doctor. (Her accounts may or may not be accurate as there are errors and truths I can see in the letter, I do know that it was the LEAF side of the family that was into hemopathy so she may have confused the NASH and LEAF side on that issue).

"Buried at Meetin" a confusing comment as it seems to indicate he may have been a non-conformist possibly a Quaker (meeting house). Yet his parents were not and he was married in the Church of England.

    Youngest Daughter

    Birth:
Was "21 years and upwards" in 1773 when marriage bond was taken

Not yet 21 years old and "youngest daughter" in her father's will written 18 June 1757

Age listed as 56 in her 1809 marriage to William TURNER

    Christened:
Unable to find a will for Ann or her siblings, it's possible they were baptised in non-conformist chapels in the area as there is some indication that the family flirted with the non-conformist movement. The records for those chapels have not survived.

Hampshire Record Office copy of the baptism of Ann Knowlton gave the following, either it is the wrong Ann or the father's name was recorded incorrectly. At this point it can't be used given this problem.
