    Uncle Jim was the eldest of the brothers and he was LLoyds Shipping Agent for Dover and he was responsible for providing Navigation Pilots for all english ships passing through the English Channel( there was no radar in those days)

    Edna May (Maisie) worked in the Post Office as a telephonist before marrying Henry Arthur James Ryeland (Shipping Agent) in 1925. They had two sons, Roger Banfil and David Charles. Maisie looked after Bassingham Court during WW2, running the house accommodation for high rank officers, Army and Navy, with Ryelands all living in the stable block to get our of Dover and avoid German shelling from France.
