When Adam Ryeland left his Aurora home for work Monday morning, he got to the end of his driveway and turned left, deviating from his regular route.

It wasn't until the day after finding 16-year-old Tysen Armstrong, semi-conscious and suffering from hypothermia and frostbite along a pathway near Wellington Street, that he realized a split-second decision saved the life of a friend's younger brother.

"Usually I just take that route when I'm late. I hadn't gone that way in months," Mr. Ryeland said.

By taking a short cut through a pathway in a wooded area near Harriman Road, south of Wellington Street, he found Tysen sitting in snow on a bitterly cold -20 C morning.
